The blaugelb Hybrid Polymer Crystal is a one-component, permanently elastic sealant and adhesive that cures crystal-clear.
Its transparent appearance makes it particularly suitable for bonding and sealing applications where the adhesive or sealant should remain as inconspicuous as possible.
The hybrid polymer formulation combines high initial adhesion with good flexibility, moisture resistance and weather resistance. It bonds to a wide range of common construction materials, including glass, metal, wood, concrete and suitable plastics.
The product is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications and can generally be applied without a primer to many construction substrates, including slightly damp surfaces. For optimal adhesion, clean and dry surfaces are recommended.
Hybrid Polymer Crystal is free from silicone, isocyanates and solvents. It is non-corrosive, virtually odourless and can be overpainted, subject to a compatibility test.
blaugelb Hybrid Polymer Crystal is suitable for a wide range of bonding and sealing applications in construction, window installation, metal fabrication and general building work.
Typical applications include:
The product is particularly useful where a conventional coloured adhesive or sealant would remain visually noticeable.
According to the manufacturer, suitable substrates include:
Material limitations: Do not use on polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), PTFE, silicone surfaces, PMMA or ABS. Porous natural stone is not recommended. Compatibility with EPDM and bituminous materials should not be assumed and must be verified before use.
The product is suitable for certain bonding applications involving glass but must not be used as a glazing sealant.
The substrate must be firm, stable, clean and free from grease, dust and loose particles.
Although Hybrid Polymer Crystal can adhere to suitable damp surfaces, the highest initial adhesion is generally achieved on dry substrates.
Due to the wide variety of possible construction materials and coatings, a preliminary adhesion and compatibility test is recommended.
Apply using a suitable standard cartridge applicator gun.
The product cures through reaction with atmospheric moisture, progressing from the outside inwards.
At approximately 23°C and 50% relative humidity, skin formation takes around 10 minutes, while the curing rate is approximately 2–3 mm within 24 hours.
Lower temperatures or reduced atmospheric humidity can slow the curing process.
Where the product is used as a sealant, smooth the joint before skin formation.
The manufacturer specifies ambient application temperatures from 0°C to +40°C and substrate temperatures from 0°C to +35°C.
Uncured material can be cleaned using a suitable turpentine substitute. Once cured, removal generally requires a suitable silicone remover or mechanical methods.
Store unopened cartridges in their original packaging in a dry place, protected from frost and excessive heat.
The manufacturer's specified shelf life is 12 months when stored between +5°C and +25°C.
The suitability of the product for the intended application and substrate must be verified before use. Refer to the manufacturer's technical data sheet and safety data sheet for complete application instructions, restrictions and safety information.
