The blaugelb Plinth Thermal Insulation Profile EPS is a high-density structural insulation profile developed specifically for use beneath entrance doors, balcony doors and other threshold elements.
It provides a strong, thermally insulating and moisture-resistant substructure between the door threshold and the supporting building structure, helping to reduce thermal bridging at floor level.
The profile is manufactured from high-density EPS with high ductility and combines very high compressive strength with low thermal conductivity, dimensional stability and excellent resistance to moisture.
Each profile is 64 mm wide and 1,175 mm long. The profiles can be connected end-to-end using the integrated dovetail joint, allowing virtually any required length to be created with minimal waste.
Profiles can also be combined vertically using the integrated tongue-and-groove connection, making it possible to adapt the support height to the required threshold detail.
The blaugelb Plinth Thermal Insulation Profile EPS is designed for use as a thermally insulating substructure beneath entrance doors, balcony doors and similar floor-level elements.
It replaces conventional thermally weak packing or plastic support profiles with a strong and continuous insulation layer beneath the threshold.
Typical applications include:
The integrated dovetail connection allows individual 1,175 mm profiles to be connected positively end-to-end to create the required overall length.
This reduces cutting waste and allows the profile length to be adapted easily on site.
Where a greater threshold support height is required, suitable Plinth Thermal Insulation Profiles can be combined vertically using the integrated tongue-and-groove connection.
This allows the thermal support to be adapted to the required floor and threshold construction without introducing additional metal connectors between the insulation profiles.
The profile should be installed on a suitable, load-bearing construction detail and protected against moisture in accordance with the required threshold and waterproofing design.
The manufacturer's technical documentation specifies Power FIX hybrid polymer adhesive and sealant for sealing the profile to the frame or structural element.
Mechanical fixing must be selected to suit the relevant door system, substrate, loads and installation detail.
Particular attention must be paid to waterproofing at floor-level door connections.
The completed detail must provide suitable protection against rising moisture, driving rain, internal moisture and lateral moisture from the adjoining construction.
Only sealing and waterproofing products compatible with EPS should be used. Solvent-containing products or other materials that are not compatible with polystyrene must be avoided.
