DESCRIPTION

High-Density MultiPro EPS Structural Insulation Board

The blaugelb MultiPro EPS Insulation Board is a high-density structural insulation panel developed for demanding construction details where thermal insulation must be combined with high pressure resistance, dimensional stability and good fixing performance.

MultiPro is particularly suitable for window, door and façade connections, structural threshold supports and thermal separation around steel and concrete construction elements.

Unlike the thinner standard blaugelb Structural Insulation Boards, MultiPro is available in greater thicknesses and features a factory-formed tongue-and-groove connection for accurate alignment and joining of adjacent panels.

For suitably designed load-bearing constructions, MultiPro panels from 60 mm thickness can be considered for transferring loads across cavities and similar structural connection details. The required thickness, support conditions and fixing arrangement must be verified for the intended application.

With a thermal conductivity of 0.0403 W/(m·K), high compressive strength and very low water absorption, MultiPro combines structural performance with effective thermal insulation.

Board Size & Availability

Standard online selling unit: One half sheet measuring nominally 1,200 × 600 mm (0.72 m²), suitable for courier delivery.

The original 1,200 × 1,200 mm manufacturer panel is accurately divided using a hot-wire cutting process. Minor dimensional tolerances may occur at the cut edge.

The original factory-formed tongue-and-groove edges are retained where present on the supplied half sheet. The newly cut edge is straight and does not have a tongue-and-groove profile.

Regular stocked thicknesses: 50, 60, 70 and 100 mm.

Full Sheets – Collection Option

Full, uncut MultiPro sheets measuring 1,200 × 1,200 mm are also available for collection from our premises.

If you would like to collect a full, uncut sheet, simply order two half sheets of the same thickness and specify in the Order Comments at checkout that you would like to receive one complete, uncut 1,200 × 1,200 mm sheet instead.

Please indicate that your order is for collection, as full sheets cannot be shipped using our standard courier service.

Example order comment:
"Please supply one full, uncut 1,200 × 1,200 mm MultiPro sheet for collection instead of two half sheets."

Full sheets requiring special transport, alternative thicknesses and individual cutting services are available on request, subject to availability, possible minimum order quantities and additional cutting or delivery charges.

APPLICATION

Typical Applications

blaugelb MultiPro EPS Insulation Boards are intended for construction details requiring a combination of thermal insulation, high compressive resistance and mechanical stability.

Typical applications include:

  • Structural insulation beneath windows and doors
  • Thermal separation of window and door frame connections
  • Thermally insulating support constructions beneath entrance doors
  • Supporting details for lift-and-slide door installations
  • Load-transferring insulation around suitable structural openings
  • Thermal separation around steel girders and concrete supports
  • Structural jamb extensions and façade connection details
  • Insulation and support of suitable cladding substructures
  • Roller shutter, Venetian blind and external blind installations

Load-Bearing Applications Across Cavities

MultiPro EPS can be used as part of suitably designed structural insulation details where loads must be transferred between supported construction elements.

For applications involving a cavity or an unsupported section beneath a window or door frame, Prodomo Ireland recommends a MultiPro thickness of at least 60 mm as an initial material selection.

A thickness of 60 mm alone does not establish a permissible unsupported span or a certified load-bearing capacity for a particular cavity construction.

The actual suitability depends on the cavity width, bearing lengths, panel orientation, applied loads, fixing arrangement and permissible deflection.

The complete construction must be assessed by the responsible designer or installer before the panel is used as a load-transferring element.

50 mm MultiPro: Suitable for structural insulation and supported connection details, but not recommended by Prodomo Ireland as a stand-alone panel for unsupported cavity bridging.

Tongue-and-Groove Connection

The factory-formed tongue-and-groove edges allow adjacent MultiPro panels to be accurately aligned and joined, helping to create a consistent insulation surface.

The interlocking connection is particularly useful when several panels are installed next to one another.

Because the panels offered here are supplied as half sheets, one edge is formed by the hot-wire cutting process. This cut edge is straight and does not retain the original tongue-and-groove connection.

The tongue-and-groove joint must not be assumed to provide a structural connection capable of transferring design loads without appropriate verification.

Cutting and Processing

MultiPro EPS is easy to cut and shape using suitable woodworking tools, including a hand saw, jigsaw, mitre saw or circular saw.

For accurate cuts, use a suitable coarse-cut blade. The high-density EPS material can be machined with relatively little dust.

Avoid excessive heat and contact with solvents or other materials that are not compatible with polystyrene.

Fixing and Bonding

Depending on the construction detail, MultiPro panels may be mechanically fixed or bonded to suitable structural substrates.

The manufacturer identifies blaugelb Power FIX Hybrid Polymer Adhesive as a suitable product for bonding structural EPS insulation panels.

Where mechanical fixing is required, suitable blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws may be used in accordance with the applicable technical specifications.

The manufacturer provides screw withdrawal values for specific FK-T30 embedment depths in MultiPro EPS. These values must not be treated as a general load-bearing approval for a complete window, door or cavity bridging assembly.

Any structural loads must be transferred through a suitable, verified connection to the load-bearing building structure.

Material Compatibility

MultiPro EPS is compatible with many conventional construction materials. Avoid direct contact with solvents, solvent-containing adhesives and other substances that may damage polystyrene.

The technical information and application guidance provided here are intended for general product selection. They do not replace structural calculations or verification of the complete installation. Final design, fixing and installation decisions remain the responsibility of the project's designer or installer.
