The blaugelb Assembly Bracket provides a reliable mechanical connection between thermally insulating support profiles and the load-bearing building structure.
It is particularly useful for floor-to-ceiling windows, entrance doors and lift-and-slide doors, where thermal threshold supports may require additional restraint against horizontal forces caused by wind pressure and suction.
The bracket is manufactured from 2 mm thick, profiled galvanised steel. Its reinforced geometry provides high resistance to deformation, while the offset hole pattern and elongated slots allow flexible fixing positions and adjustment to different installation conditions.
Different bracket sizes are available to accommodate various threshold heights, floor constructions and installation geometries.
The Assembly Bracket can be used together with TRIOTHERM+ structural insulation profiles and blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws.
TRIOTHERM+ profiles provide a stable, load-bearing and thermally insulating support beneath window and door elements. Assembly Brackets provide additional mechanical connections to the structural substrate where required.
Large floor-level windows and doors may require additional horizontal restraint along the bottom of the frame, particularly where the thermal upstand extends across a wide opening.
The Assembly Bracket provides a mechanical connection between the TRIOTHERM+ support profile and the load-bearing structure, helping to transfer horizontal forces resulting from wind pressure and suction.
Based on our practical experience with TRIOTHERM+ structural threshold supports, Prodomo Ireland generally recommends the following initial bracket allowances:
Positioning principle: Where the window or door frame is already mechanically secured to the load-bearing masonry at both sides, additional brackets are generally more effective towards the middle of the threshold rather than immediately beside the ends.
This provides additional restraint where the distance from the lateral frame fixings is greatest.
For the mechanical connection between an Assembly Bracket and a TRIOTHERM+ profile, we recommend using four blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws per bracket.
The screws must achieve a minimum effective screw-in depth of 60 mm within the TRIOTHERM+ material.
For this application, we recommend blaugelb FK-T30 7.5 × 62 mm frame fixing screws.
When fixing through the 2 mm steel bracket, the screw length must provide the required effective embedment within TRIOTHERM+. A 62 mm screw allows a nominal 60 mm embedment through 2 mm of steel, provided the bracket is seated directly against the profile without an additional gap or intervening layer.
All four screws must be positioned using suitable fixing holes, with appropriate spacing and edge distances. The screw connection must be suitable for the forces to be transmitted.
blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws may also be used to secure the Assembly Bracket to suitable load-bearing substrates.
The required effective screw-in depth depends on the substrate:
| Substrate | Minimum Effective Screw-in Depth |
|---|---|
| Concrete | 40 mm |
| Solid Concrete Block, 7.5 N/mm² | 70 mm – independently tested by InnoPerform |
Concrete: The manufacturer's FK-T30 technical data specifies a 6.5 mm drill-hole diameter and a recommended screw-in depth of 40 mm.
7.5 N/mm² solid concrete block: Prodomo Ireland commissioned independent pull-out tests by InnoPerform using FK-T30 frame fixing screws with a 70 mm effective screw-in depth and 6.0 mm drilled holes.
The testing demonstrated the load-bearing performance of the investigated screw and substrate combination under the specified test conditions. The results apply to the tested configuration and should not be generalised to different concrete block types or installation conditions without verification.
For all substrates, the selected screw length must account for the bracket thickness, any intervening layers and the required effective embedment.
The drilling method, edge distances and fixing arrangement must follow the relevant technical documentation and the requirements of the complete installation.
In suitable, separately assessed constructions, the TRIOTHERM+ upstand may also be mechanically connected to the structural substrate through an arrangement of Assembly Brackets instead of direct mechanical anchoring through the profile.
For an initial material allowance, we generally suggest one to two Assembly Brackets per individual TRIOTHERM+ profile length of 1,175 mm.
The number and positioning of brackets must be determined according to the installation geometry, substrate, applicable loads and the performance required from the complete fixing arrangement.
Where installation is intended to comply with the standard TRIOTHERM+ system according to ETA-23/0620, the applicable requirements for Power FIX and FK-T30 mechanical fixing must be observed. A bracket-only fixing arrangement is not automatically an equivalent substitute for the assessed system fixing method.
The bracket quantities, positioning guidelines and fixing recommendations provided by Prodomo Ireland are general practical guidance. They do not replace the structural verification of the complete installation. The responsible designer or installer must assess the applicable loads, fixing capacity, substrate suitability and system requirements.
