These extra-long 7.5 mm frame fixing screws are intended for the mechanical fixing of TRIOTHERM+ insulated door upstands to suitable load-bearing concrete, solid concrete block and structural timber substrates.
Their extended lengths are particularly useful for fixing through taller structural threshold profiles while providing sufficient screw length for anchoring into the supporting structure.
These standard frame screws offer an alternative fixing option for suitable door threshold constructions. Unlike the original blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws, they are not specified components of the TRIOTHERM+ fastening system covered by ETA-23/0620.
These screws can be used for mechanically securing insulated TRIOTHERM+ door upstands to suitable load-bearing concrete subfloors, concrete slabs, solid concrete blocks and structural timber members.
Their extended lengths allow mechanical fixing through taller threshold support profiles into the underlying structural substrate.
For initial material planning, Prodomo Ireland generally suggests allowing approximately two to three screws per full TRIOTHERM+ profile length of 1,175 mm.
The actual number and spacing of fixings depend on the installation geometry, substrate, applied loads and the structural requirements of the complete threshold construction.
For these standard frame fixing screws, Prodomo Ireland recommends the following effective screw-in depths into suitable load-bearing substrates:
| Substrate | Recommended Effective Screw-in Depth |
|---|---|
| Concrete C25 | 50 mm |
| Solid Concrete Block, 7.5 N/mm² | 80 mm |
| C16 Structural Timber | 80 mm |
These values are practical installation recommendations for the standard frame screws offered on this product page. They deliberately provide additional embedment compared with certain fixing recommendations for the original blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws.
The stated depths are not independently verified minimum embedment depths or certified load-bearing values for these screws. Additional embedment alone does not establish an equivalent load-bearing capacity.
The suitability of the screw, substrate and complete fixing arrangement must be verified for the actual installation conditions.
The selected screw length must be sufficient to pass through the TRIOTHERM+ profile and any intervening layers while achieving the recommended effective screw-in depth in the load-bearing substrate.
When selecting a screw length, consider the profile height, any additional material between the profile and the substrate, the required anchoring depth and the position of the screw head.
Where the combined profile height and required embedment depth falls between available screw lengths, a shorter screw may be suitable if the screw head can be recessed into the TRIOTHERM+ profile.
For example, a 200 mm high TRIOTHERM+ door upstand requiring 80 mm embedment into a solid concrete block would normally require a screw length of at least 280 mm when the screw head is flush with the top of the profile.
By recessing a 272 mm screw approximately 10 mm into the TRIOTHERM+ profile, a nominal embedment depth of 82 mm can be achieved, assuming direct contact between the upstand and the substrate without intervening layers.
Countersinking must be suitable for the screw head geometry and fixing arrangement. The screw head must retain adequate support within the profile without damaging the TRIOTHERM+ material or compromising the fixing performance.
The suitability of countersinking these standard frame screws must be verified for the intended installation. The nominal embedment calculation does not establish the structural resistance of the connection.
A compatible TX30 driver bit is required for installation.
For concrete and masonry substrates, use a suitable long masonry drill bit and an appropriate drilling method. The drill-hole diameter, drilling depth and hole preparation must be suitable for the selected screw and substrate.
For structural timber, any pilot-hole requirements, edge distances and fixing arrangements must be determined according to the screw geometry and timber conditions.
Avoid excessive tightening or overdriving the screws. The fixing must securely connect the upstand to the load-bearing structure without damaging the insulating profile or the substrate.
Where installation is intended to comply with the TRIOTHERM+ fastening system according to ETA-23/0620, the specified blaugelb FK-T30 frame fixing screws and the applicable installation requirements must be used.
The fixing quantities, recommended screw-in depths and countersinking guidance provided above are practical recommendations for initial material planning. They are not substitutes for product-specific anchoring tests or the structural verification of the complete fixing arrangement. Final fixing selection and installation remain the responsibility of the project's designer or installer.
