The blaugelb Insulated Window Sill Support EPS provides a stable, thermally insulating base beneath external window sills while automatically creating the required drainage slope.
The stocked version measures 25–47 × 250 × 1,000 mm and incorporates an approximately 5° incline across its 250 mm depth. This provides a ready-made sloping support for the external window sill and avoids the need to form the fall separately on site.
The profile is manufactured from water-repellent EPS and creates a continuous connection between the building structure and the external window sill. By eliminating the cavity beneath the sill, it also provides effective sound deadening and can eliminate the need for a separate sound-deadening strip.
It is suitable for external aluminium and stone window sill details and provides an effective thermal break beneath the sill while remaining resistant to moisture, ageing and decay.
The standard version stocked by Just Airtight is 25–47 × 250 × 1,000 mm.
A larger standard version measuring 42–64 × 250 × 1,000 mm is also available on request.
Both size ranges are additionally available on request as crush-resistant high-density EPS versions with recess:
The crush-resistant version uses the same high-performance structural EPS material class used for products such as TRIOTHERM+, Structural Insulation Board and MULTIPRO and is intended for applications requiring significantly higher load-bearing capacity, including suitable exit sill, balcony and terrace details.
Please contact us if you require one of these alternative versions.
The Insulated Window Sill Support EPS is installed beneath the external window sill to provide a continuous, thermally insulating and moisture-resistant support surface.
Its pre-formed approximately 5° incline automatically creates the required outward fall for the external window sill.
The 25–47 mm profile height is measured across the 250 mm depth of the profile, producing the required slope without having to form a separate sloping substrate on site.
The profile is suitable for use beneath aluminium and stone external window sills. It is particularly useful beneath aluminium sills, where the continuous support helps prevent the hollow sound that can occur when the sill is installed over an unsupported cavity.
The direct support beneath the sill provides effective sound deadening and can remove the need for a separate anti-drumming or sound-deadening strip in suitable installations.
The water-repellent EPS profile helps reduce thermal bridging in the external sill area while providing a moisture-resistant support layer.
The profile is designed to form part of the second water-bearing layer beneath the external window sill. All adjoining waterproofing and sealing details must nevertheless be completed in accordance with the window, sill and façade system requirements.
Where the profile is connected to a blaugelb Sill Connection Profile, the manufacturer specifies two strands of Power FIX Hybrid Polymer Adhesive & Sealant on the side facing the sill connection profile.
On the inclined upper surface, thin strands of Power FIX are applied in the direction of the slope. Application starts at the right and left profile ends, with additional adhesive strands at a maximum spacing of approximately 30 mm.
Installation details can vary depending on the window system, external sill, façade construction and waterproofing arrangement. The applicable manufacturer and system installation requirements should therefore always be observed.
The 1,000 mm profiles can be cut to the required length on site. The EPS material can be shaped accurately with minimal dust using suitable cutting tools.
Surfaces should be clean and suitable for the intended adhesive, sealing and waterproofing system before installation.
